Wenlock Priory

This Cluniac plan is founded on that drawn for the author by Mr. P. W. Hubbard and reproduced in
Archaeologia, vol. LXXII
The church, which has a history going back to the seventh century, was rebuilt in the thirteenth, the lady
chapel being added at the east end in the fourteenth, and the sacristy on the south side in the fifteenth.
The chapter house, dorter range [dormitory], farmery hall [infirmary], and cloister lavatory [monks'
bathroom] are Norman.  The cloister itself, the frater, and the western range were rebuilt in the thirteenth century, in which the further buildings were erected south of the dorter.  The south-eastern range, in two floors, comprising the prior's lodging and an extension of the farmery, is an addition of the end of the fifteenth century.
